Quality Score
Google's rating of how good your ad is - higher score = lower costs.
The Tradie Take
Quality Score is like your rating on a jobs board. If you show up on time, quote fairly, and do good work, you get higher ratings and more job invitations. If you're unreliable and your quotes are sloppy, you get lower ratings and fewer jobs. Google's the same - prove your ad is useful and relevant, and Google sends more people your way for less money.
Definition
Quality Score is Google's rating of the quality and relevance of your ad, keywords, and landing page. It's scored from 1-10 (10 being best). A higher Quality Score means you pay less per click and get better ad positions. Google wants to show ads that are useful to searchers - if your ad and landing page are relevant, Google rewards you with lower costs and better placement.
How It Works
- 1 Google evaluates your ad's relevance to the keyword
- 2 It measures your expected click-through rate (will people click?)
- 3 It checks your landing page experience (is the page useful and relevant?)
- 4 Score 1-10 - aiming for 7+ means you're doing well
Tips for Tradies
- Make your ad copy and landing page match exactly what the keyword promises
- Use relevant keywords in your ad headline and description
- A slow or irrelevant landing page tanks your Quality Score
