Lead
A potential customer who's shown interest in your services.
The Tradie Take
A lead is someone who walks into your workshop and asks for a quote. Not everyone who walks in will book - some are just checking prices, some are comparing you to other tradies. But every booking starts as a lead. The goal is to get more of the right people walking through your (online) door and fewer tyre-kickers.
Definition
A lead is a person or business that has shown interest in your services but hasn't yet become a paying customer. They might have called for a quote, filled out a contact form, or downloaded a guide from your site. Not all leads become jobs - some are price-shopping, some aren't ready yet, and some aren't a good fit. Your marketing's job is to generate quality leads that actually convert.
How It Works
- 1 A lead is created when someone takes an action: calls, emails, submits a form
- 2 Some leads are "hot" (ready to book now), others are "warm" (researching)
- 3 Not all leads are equal - a lead wanting a full bathroom renovation is worth more than a leaky tap
- 4 Good marketing attracts better-quality leads who are ready to spend
Tips for Tradies
- Track where your leads come from - Google search, referrals, Facebook, etc.
- Follow up with leads quickly - the first tradie to respond often gets the job
- Not all leads are worth chasing - learn which types convert and focus on attracting more of those
