Impressions

How many times your ad or listing is seen.

The Tradie Take

Impressions are the number of people who walk past your van. If 1000 people walk past but only 5 pick up a brochure, that's 1000 impressions and 5 clicks. High impressions are nice, but it's the clicks and calls that actually pay for the fuel.

Definition

Impressions count how many times your ad, search listing, or social media post is displayed, regardless of whether anyone clicks. If your Google ad shows up 1000 times in search results, that's 1000 impressions. Impressions alone don't pay the bills - they need to convert to clicks and then to calls. But low impressions mean not enough people are seeing you.

How It Works

  • 1 Every time your content appears on someone's screen, it's an impression
  • 2 One person can generate multiple impressions over time
  • 3 High impressions + low clicks = your listing isn't compelling enough
  • 4 Low impressions = you need better keywords, more budget, or better targeting

Tips for Tradies

  • Don't chase vanity impressions - focus on clicks and conversions
  • Low impressions in ads means your targeting is too narrow or budget too low
  • Impressions matter more for brand awareness campaigns than direct response
